What we do

Concrete that performs and looks like it should.

Most concrete gets poured, finished and forgotten. It does its job structurally and contributes nothing to the look of the property. Decorative concrete changes that equation: the same structural slab that carries the load is also the finished surface, so you skip the cost of a separate flooring material on top.

We handle decorative concrete for commercial properties where the surface matters. Entryways that set the tone for a business. Walkways and plazas that have to look good under foot traffic. Interior floors where polished or stained concrete is the finished floor. Patios and outdoor dining areas that take weather and still look sharp.

Artistic Construction has been pouring decorative concrete across Cherokee County and North Georgia for over 23 years. We help you pick the right finish for the application, source the materials and pour it with the care these finishes require. Decorative work is unforgiving: stamping and texturing happen in a narrow window while the slab is still workable, and there is no second pass.

  • Skips the cost of a separate flooring material on top of the slab
  • Handles commercial foot traffic, vehicle traffic and weather
  • Low maintenance compared to pavers, natural stone or tile
  • Creates a cohesive visual identity for the property
  • Multiple finish options to match any design direction or budget

Finish options

Decorative concrete finishes we offer.

Each finish has a different look, different durability and a different cost. Here is what we work with on commercial projects.

01

Stamped Concrete

Patterns pressed into wet concrete that mimic stone, brick, slate, tile or wood. Color is added through integral pigment or a surface-applied hardener. The result is a textured, multi-toned surface that reads like a premium material at a fraction of the installed cost.

02

Exposed Aggregate

The top layer of cement paste is washed away to reveal the stone underneath. It creates a natural, slip-resistant surface with real visual texture. The look depends on the aggregate blend, from standard gravel to custom decorative stone mixes.

03

Stained & Dyed Concrete

Acid stains react with the concrete to create translucent, mottled color. Water-based stains and dyes give more uniform, predictable results. Both can be applied to new or existing concrete in good condition, in multiple colors and patterns.

04

Integral Color

Pigment mixed directly into the concrete before it is poured. The color goes all the way through the slab, so chips and wear never reveal a different color underneath. Available in a wide range of earth tones and custom colors.

05

Polished Concrete

The surface is mechanically ground and polished to a high sheen using progressively finer diamond tooling. It makes a durable, low-maintenance interior floor with a modern look, common in retail, restaurants, offices and showrooms.

06

Custom Formwork & Edges

Custom-shaped forms for curved edges, radius corners, seat walls and planters, plus saw-scored patterns, anything that goes beyond a standard straight-line pour. We build the forms to the design and pour concrete that matches the rest of the project.

How it goes

Consult to walkthrough.

01

Consult & Design

Discuss the application, review finish options, select colors and patterns, and plan the layout.

02

Prep & Base

Grade the site, compact the subgrade, install base material and set forms to the design.

03

Pour & Finish

Place concrete, apply the color treatment, and stamp or texture the surface while conditions are right.

04

Cure & Seal

Follow curing protocols, then apply protective sealer to lock in the color and protect the surface.

Common questions

Concrete design FAQ.

What is decorative concrete and where is it used commercially?+

Decorative concrete is any concrete finish that goes beyond a standard broom or trowel finish: stamped patterns, exposed aggregate, acid staining, integral color and polished finishes. Commercially it shows up on entryways, patios, walkways, pool decks, plaza areas and interior floors where the concrete is both the structural surface and the finished floor.

What’s the difference between stamped concrete and stained concrete?+

Stamped concrete gets its pattern pressed into the surface while the concrete is still wet. That creates a textured, three-dimensional look that can mimic stone, brick, slate or wood. Stained concrete is applied to cured concrete and changes the color of the surface without adding texture. Staining works on both new pours and existing concrete.

Can you apply decorative finishes to existing concrete?+

Some finishes can be applied to existing concrete and some can’t. Staining, polishing and overlay systems work on existing surfaces that are in decent condition. Stamped concrete and exposed aggregate have to be done during the original pour. If the base slab is sound we can overlay, stain or score it rather than tearing it out. We’ll evaluate your existing concrete and tell you which options are realistic for your situation.

How durable is decorative concrete in a commercial setting?+

Installed correctly and sealed properly, decorative concrete holds up well under commercial traffic and Georgia weather. The concrete underneath is the same structural material as any other slab. The decorative treatment is either integral to the pour or applied as a surface treatment with a protective sealer. We use exterior-rated sealers and give you upkeep guidance; resealing every few years keeps it looking good and protected.

What is exposed aggregate?+

Exposed aggregate is a finish where the top layer of cement paste is washed away after the pour to reveal the stone and aggregate underneath. The result is a textured, slip-resistant surface with a natural look. The appearance depends on the aggregate in the mix, which can range from standard gravel to decorative stone blends selected for color and texture.

Do you handle the design or just the installation?+

Both. We work with you on material selection, color choices, pattern options and layout planning. If you have a design already, we’ll execute it. If you need help figuring out what will look right and hold up for your specific application, we’ll walk you through the options and make recommendations based on what we’ve seen perform well over 23 years of concrete work.

How much does decorative concrete cost compared to standard concrete?+

Decorative finishes add cost over a standard broom finish, but the amount depends on the type of finish and the complexity of the project. A simple integral color add might be modest. A full stamped pattern with multiple colors and a custom layout costs more. We price every project on the actual scope and give you a detailed estimate so you can compare options.

Can you match a specific color or brand?+

We custom-match color and can score patterns to fit a brand or a building. Bring us a reference and we’ll sample it.
